Third Quarter
The Longhorns scored once in the third quarter as Young threw a 27-yard pass to Billy Pittman to increase the Longhorn lead to 25 points. As stated by the Associated Press, "the rout was on". The Sooners only got within UT territory once, and that drive ended abruptly when Michael Huff intercepted Rhett Bomar's pass at the UT36. This was the first interception for Bomar in 73 attempts. As the third quarter ended, UT had just gained a first down at the OU37.

Famous quotes containing the word quarter:
“I also heard the whooping of the ice in the pond, my great bed-fellow in that part of Concord, as if it were restless in its bed and would fain turn over, were troubled with flatulency and bad dreams; or I was waked by the cracking of the ground by the frost, as if some one had driven a team against my door, and in the morning would find a crack in the earth a quarter of a mile long and a third of an inch wide.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“In the haunted house no quarter is given: in that respect
Its very much business as usual. The reductive principle
Is no longer there, or isnt enforced as much as before.”
—John Ashbery (b. 1927)
