2003 Men's Hockey Champions Trophy

The 2003 Men's Hockey Champions Trophy took place in the Wagener Stadium in Amstelveen, Netherlands. The event started August 16 and ended on August 24, 2003.

Participating nations at the annual men's elite six nations tournament were Australia, Argentina, India, Germany, Pakistan, and hosts and reigning champions Netherlands. The German team fielded a second-string squad as their best players were preparing for the 2003 Men's EuroHockey Nations Championship in Barcelona instead.

The tournament was scheduled to be held in Milton Keynes, Great Britain, but due to financial problems the English Hockey Federation decided to withdraw its bid.

Famous quotes containing the words men and/or champions:

We know, Mr. Weller—we, who are men of the world—that a good uniform must work its way with the women, sooner or later.
    Charles Dickens (1812–1870)

Myths and legends die hard in America. We love them for the extra dimension they provide, the illusion of near-infinite possibility to erase the narrow confines of most men’s reality. Weird heroes and mould-breaking champions exist as living proof to those who need it that the tyranny of “the rat race” is not yet final.
    Hunter S. Thompson (b. 1939)
