  • For the first time since 1965, no player kicked ten goals or more in a match.
  • Carlton were the last of the original VFL/AFL clubs to finish at the bottom of the ladder at the end of the regular season. It was the first time in 106 years of the VFL/AFL in which the club finished last.
  • Even though Adelaide had a home Semi Final after losing the Qualifying Final to Brisbane, the game had to be played at the MCG due to a license agreement in relation to a certain number of games to be played at the MCG during the finals series.
