South Carolina 200
The South Carolina 200 was held September 1 at Darlington Raceway. Ryan Newman won the pole. On lap 19 of this race, Steve Park lost control of his racecar under caution and was T-boned by rookie Larry Foyt. Park suffered near-fatal injuries that made him miss the 2002 Daytona 500.
