See also: List of retired Atlantic hurricane namesThe following names were used for system that attained at least tropical storm intensity within the Atlantic basin in the year 2000. Although this was the same list used for the 1994 Atlantic hurricane season, storms were named Joyce, Leslie, Michael, and Nadine for the first time in 2000 due to inactivity in the former. Names that were not assigned are marked in gray. At their meeting in the spring of 2001, the World Meteorological Organization retired the name Keith from the list above due to its high impact and replaced it with Kirk for use in the 2006 Atlantic hurricane season. The remaining storm names were re-listed for the 2006 season.
