1 Service Battalion - The Unit Flag

The Unit Flag

The 1 Svc Bn Unit flag is steeped with the traditions of the founding Corps. The official colours of the unit flag are Marine Corps Scarlet and Oriental blue with an intervening gold stripe and the number one emblazoned in the centre. These regal colours have a long history of association with army services. The Oriental blue colour of the flag is reminiscent of the old RCOC flag while the gold colour can be found on the former banners of the RCASC, the RCEME Corps, and the Royal Canadian Army Pays Corps (RCAPC).

Famous quotes containing the words unit and/or flag:

During the Suffragette revolt of 1913 I ... [urged] that what was needed was not the vote, but a constitutional amendment enacting that all representative bodies shall consist of women and men in equal numbers, whether elected or nominated or coopted or registered or picked up in the street like a coroner’s jury. In the case of elected bodies the only way of effecting this is by the Coupled Vote. The representative unit must not be a man or a woman but a man and a woman.
    George Bernard Shaw (1856–1950)

—Here, the flag snaps in the glare and silence
Of the unbroken ice. I stand here,
The dogs bark, my beard is black, and I stare
At the North Pole. . .
And now what? Why, go back.

Turn as I please, my step is to the south.
    Randall Jarrell (1914–1965)
