1999 French Grand Prix

The 1999 French Grand Prix was a Formula One race held on June 27, 1999 at the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours near Magny-Cours, France. It was the seventh race of the 1999 Formula One season.

The race was held in wet conditions which at one point required the safety car to be deployed.

Damon Hill hinted after the race that this one could have been his last, or if he did compete at Silverstone in the next race he might leave Formula One afterwards.

Toranosuke Takagi was disqualified for using tyres which had been marked for his team-mate, Pedro de la Rosa.

Famous quotes containing the words french and/or grand:

I don’t see what for French Canadians to go to defend a bunch of Poles. I don’t get that at all. I don’t see what they mean to us. And they all one kind government much same like the other.
    Emeric Pressburger (1902–1988)

There aren’t any good, brave causes left. If the big bang does come, and we all get killed off, it won’t be in aid of the old-fashioned grand design. It’ll just be for the Brave New-nothing-very-much-thank-you. About as pointless and inglorious as stepping in front of a bus. No, there’s nothing left for it, me boy, but to let yourself be butchered by the women.
    John Osborne (1929–1994)
