1994 Belgian Grand Prix - Background

Background

Philippe Alliot replaced Olivier Beretta at Larrousse. It would prove to be Alliot's last appearance in a Formula One World Championship race. Zanardi was replaced at the Lotus team for this race by Philippe Adams. Alliot had raced for McLaren at the previous race in Hungary as Mika Häkkinen was suspended. Häkkinen returned to the McLaren seat for this race.

In the light of the death of Ayrton Senna earlier in the season, a tyre chicane was installed at Eau Rouge to slow the cars. Heinz-Harald Frentzen spun there while attempting to pass Rubens Barrichello early in the race, Barrichello's Jordan struggling to keep track position amongst clearly faster cars coming through having started on pole position.

Famous quotes containing the word background:

I had many problems in my conduct of the office being contrasted with President Kennedy’s conduct in the office, with my manner of dealing with things and his manner, with my accent and his accent, with my background and his background. He was a great public hero, and anything I did that someone didn’t approve of, they would always feel that President Kennedy wouldn’t have done that.
    Lyndon Baines Johnson (1908–1973)

In the true sense one’s native land, with its background of tradition, early impressions, reminiscences and other things dear to one, is not enough to make sensitive human beings feel at home.
    Emma Goldman (1869–1940)
