On the same lap, Häkkinen's Lotus suffered similar problem and he dropped out of the race. Patrese won ahead of Berger, Brundle in the Benetton, Andrea de Cesaris in the Tyrrell, Jean Alesi's Ferrari and Christian Fittipaldi, who scored his first points in Formula One. Famous quotes containing the word race:

    Let me live in my house by the side of the road—
    It’s here the race of men go by.
    They are good, they are bad, they are weak, they are strong
    Wise, foolish—so am I;
    Sam Walter Foss (1858–1911)

    [It is possible] that the race of red men ... will, before many generations, be remembered only as a strange, weird, dream-like specter, which has passed once before the eyes of men, but had departed forever.
    James A. Garfield (1831–1881)

    I would be a winner because I was a loser! That’s right. I dream of failure every night of my life, and that’s my secret. To make it in this rat race you have to dream of failing every day. I mean, that is reality.
    Donald Freed, U.S. screenwriter, and Arnold M. Stone. Robert Altman. Richard Nixon (Philip Baker Hall)
