Kara-Khitan Empire
Kuchlug was welcomed by Zhilugu, the Gur-khan (meaning Universal Khan), ruler of the Kara-Khitans. Once he was accepted into the Kara-Khitan Empire, Kuchlug quickly gained a strong foothold. He found service as an advisor for Gur-khan, and was allowed to marry one of the Gur-khan's daughters, Qûngû. He was later given the title of Khan, and was allowed to reorganized his fellow Naimans into a military unit under his command.

Famous quotes containing the word empire:
“Thy blood and virtue
Contend for empire in thee, and thy goodness
Share with thy birthright! Love all, trust a few,
Do wrong to none. Be able for thine enemy
Rather in power than use, and keep thy friend
Under thy own lifes key. Be checked for silence
But never taxed for speech.”
—William Shakespeare (15641616)
